Training Courses

Many employees working in the disability sector require First Aid, CPR and Child Protection training, particularly those working with children under NDIS.

EmpowerU is proud to offer this training for its own employees but also to other service providers and individuals in the community who need these accreditations for their own needs.

We currently offer the following training courses.

1:1 Mentoring Supporting / Consulting

We provide NDIS service-related mentoring and consulting services. Based on your needs and goals. Some of the areas we cover but are not limited to:

  • NDIS related information
  • Managing complaints and incidents
  • Claiming funding and Proda
  • Reporting to the commission
  • General supervision/support
  • HR matters and staffing
  • Coordination support/training
  • Staff supervision and debriefing
  • Pre audit reviews
  • Development of in-house training eg staff induction (may include extra cost)

Duration: 1 hour via phone or online 2 hour minimum for face to-face

Cost: $100 per hour minimum (ex. GST)

Boundaries Workshop

This short course provides staff with the practical information enabling them to work within the Professional Boundaries framework and be able to define, establish and maintain appropriate professional relationships in the workplace.

Duration: 6 Hours

Cost: $600 for 12 ($60 each for extra staff) 

Participants will learn to:

  • Defining Professional Boundaries
  • Understanding the importance of maintaining Professional Boundaries
  • Implications of overstepping Professional Boundaries
  • Identifying personal values and cultural influences

CPR Course

This unit is helpful for all persons who may be required to provide First Aid in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings, and those who require this accreditation as a condition of employment.

Formal course name: Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation – (CPR) – HLTAID009

Duration: 2.5 hours

Cost: $60 per participant (ex. GST)

Participants will learn to:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Perform CPR procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Review the incident.

First Aid Course

This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.  

Formal course name: Provide First Aid – HLTAID011

Duration: 6 Hours

Cost: $129 per participant (ex. GST)

Participants will learn to:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Review the incident

First Aid in Education/Care Setting Course

This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school-age children in outside school care and vacation programs.

Formal course name: Provide First Aid in an education and care setting – HLTAID012

Duration: 7 hours

Cost: $149 per participant (ex. GST)

Participants will learn to:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Review the incident

Identify & Respond to Children at Risk Course (Child Protection)

This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health context. This course is offered as a full course receiving a statement of attainment and as a refresher course. Training course is available face to face OR online via (Zoom).

Formal course name: Identify and respond to children and young people at risk CHCPRT025

Duration: 3 hours

Cost (Full Course): $149 per participant (ex. GST)

Refresher Cost: $79 per participant (ex. GST)

Participants will learn to:

  • Implement work practices that support the protection of children and young people
  • Report indications of the possible risk of harm
  • Apply ethical and nurturing practices in work with children and young people.

Person-Centred Practices Training

Participants will learn how to identify and implement person-centred practices in a disability setting. This course is designed to train you to use essential person-centred thinking tools that will enable you to support people to have choice and control in their life.

Formal course name: Identify and respond to children and young people at risk- CHCPRT001 

Duration: 2 days course – full days

Cost $1800 up to 14 people (resources included)

Participants will learn to:

  • How to separate what is important to someone from what is important for them and how they want to be supported.
  • How to capture what people appreciate about the person.
  • How to record this information into a one-page profile.
  • Discovering what is working and not working in a situation from different perspectives leading to action plans that make a positive difference in people’s lives.
  • Recording how someone communicates using a communication chart.
  • How to use the Decision Making Agreement.
  • How to identify what core responsibilities are and where you can use creativity and judgment.-
  • How to match people based on skills, qualities and interests.
    How to take care of yourself while taking care of others.

Restricted Practice For Support Workers

This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health context.
